At Chrysalis, we empower our clients to overcome their barriers to employment so that they can transition out of homelessness and poverty. Our program draws upon each client's individual strengths and teaches them concrete skills while building self-reliance. Since 1984, Chrysalis has helped over 38,000 people through its employment programs and services.
In 2010:
60% more people have sought our services since the economic downturn.
Over 400 clients a day received services at one of our three centers.
Over 1,500 clients were successfully employed.
The average cost of our program is $2,000 per client – a fraction of the cost of similar government-sponsored employment programs.
On average, our clients make almost $10 an hour when they gain employment – considerably higher than California's $8 hourly minimum wage.
90% of funds raised went directly to client services.
Nearly 600 volunteers spent 18,000 hours mentoring clients and assisting with special projects and events.
Volunteers taught over 2,750 job-readiness classes.
Chrysalis Enterprises created over 218,000 hours of employment.
$2.5 million in wages were earned by 450 clients working through Chrysalis Enterprises.
