Know and follow the chain of command.
Call supervisor ASAP if you are late, sick, or unable to get to work for any reason.
Don’t take things personally, don’t assume, and don’t sweat the small stuff.
Communicate assertively and professionally.
Don’t panic if you make a mistake – take responsibility and communicate.
Be professional. Keep your personal life out of the workplace. Be careful with what information you share with your co-workers and supervisor.

Know the Job
It is important to understand the job you have signed on to do. Part of this is managing your expectations so you do not set yourself up for disappointment.
What will your typical day looks like? What are your responsibilities?
Ask for a job description from your supervisor as soon as you start your job.
Find out when you have performance reviews.
Understand your role in the company in order to plan for the future.
