Spirit of Chrysalis Awards On Wednesday, November 12, 2008 the seventh annual Spirit of Chrysalis Awards was held at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles and drew over 300 guests. The inspirational evening honored Colin Shepherd, Senior Vice President of Hines for his philanthropic work with Chrysalis for more than 20 years and the Figueroa Corridor Partnership for its long existing relationship with Chrysalis Enterprises. Monarch Group Night at Mandrake The Monarch Group, our young professionals group, held a fundraiser at Mandrake Bar in Culver City. It was a terrific night with over 150 people attending. >>See Event Photos & Details.

Chrysalis Valley Open House

On March 6th, the Chrysalis Valley Office welcomed donors, volunteers, partner agencies, and local dignitaries to an evening of food, wine, and accolades for the wonderful work done there.  State Senator Alex Padilla and Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes, both longtime Chrysalis supporters, applauded Chrysalis’ efforts in the Valley and pledged their commitment of continued support.  Over 75 guests toured the newly renovated office and learned about Chrysalis’ employment programs, businesses, and volunteer opportunities. 

The Valley Office, which opened in June of 2001, has helped over 1,700 clients since its inception.  Last year alone, 300 clients participated in Chrysalis programs in the Valley, and Chrysalis Enterprises employed more than 40 people!

The Sixth Annual Spirit of Chrysalis Awards

Our Sixth Annual Spirit of Chrysalis Awards was a huge success! Held on October 24, the event drew more than 400 guests to honor Chris M. Kanoff of Jefferies & Co., Chrysalis Enterprises’ Customer of the Year Topa Management Company and SOCA Client of the Year Jai Hilton.

The Spanish-themed fête, held at the gorgeous Vibiana LA (formerly St. Vibiana’s Cathedral) downtown, featured a flamenco guitarist, fabulous silent and live auction, dinner and dancing to the sounds of Spreadin’ Rhythm ‘Round. Client of the Year, Jai Hilton, brought the room to tears as she spoke of her transformation at Chrysalis, and Customer of the Year Topa Management Company was lauded by peers for encouraging a double bottom line in their business practices. It was certainly a night to remember! Thanks to the dedication of Chrysalis Board Member Mary Ellen Kanoff, our honoree, Chris Kanoff, and our incredibly enthusiastic Event and Auction Committees, the event reached record numbers. Tremendous appreciation also goes to Event Chair Jill Baldauf and Auction Chair Karen Murphy-O’Brien for their tireless commitment and efforts!
