Mission:
Chrysalis is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping economically
disadvantaged and homeless individuals become self-sufficient through
employment opportunities. It currently helps more than 2,000 individuals
a year change their lives through jobs.
Sites:
Chrysalis' four main service centers are located where homelessness
and pockets of poverty are most pervasive: two sites on Skid Row
in Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and in the Pacoima area of
the San Fernando Valley.
Effectiveness:
• 93% of individuals completing
Chrysalis' Job Readiness Curriculum secure employment.
• The average cost of our program is $2,200 per client/year
- a fraction of the cost of similar government sponsored employment
programs.
• 90% of all funds raised go directly to client services.
Accomplishments:
- We helped 1775 clients get jobs – 1018 in Downtown, 584 in Santa Monica, and 173 in Pacoima; this was a 2.6% increase over 2004.
- Once again, 93% of the clients who participated in our program got jobs.
- Over 1,400 clients participated in Retention and/or Men's and Women's programs, an 11% increase over 2004.
- We reduced the number of clients who stay in Chrysalis Works jobs for more than eight months by 48%.
- We garnered Chrysalis Enterprises contracts worth $4.1 million, employing 857 clients.
- We achieved a roster of 162 customers, including 91 new contracts.
- We raised $2.9 million from over 1800 donors.
- We recruited close to 50 new volunteers in the second half of the year alone, who provided about 370 additional volunteer hours (an 80% increase from last year).
- We designed, built, and moved into a beautiful new office in Santa Monica.
