New Chrysalis Recycling Programs on Venice Beach and Throughout
Los Angeles County Reduces Waste and Provides Employment Opportunities for the Homeless
(Santa Monica, CA, July 31, 2008) – Chrysalis Enterprises, a division of the nonprofit organization Chrysalis, has launched Chrysalis Recycling that includes the first public recycling bins in the City of Los Angeles and will provide paths out of poverty for hundreds of men and women every year.
Chrysalis clients service the containers, located on the sidewalks of the Venice Beach boardwalk and at medium-sized businesses located in the city of Los Angeles that currently do not have recycling available L> .
“We are delighted to expand Chrysalis Enterprises to include Chrysalis Recycling, which services the first public recycling containers in Los Angeles and medium sized companies in Los Angeles,” said Mark Loranger, Vice President of Chrysalis Enterprises . “Chrysalis Recycling currently collects 11 tons of recyclable material in the city of Los Angeles each month – a significant reduction in waste when considering that one ton represents more than 62,000 cans or approximately 36,000 plastic water bottles . While reducing landfill waste, Chrysalis Recycling serves as a resource for businesses and creates jobs for our economically disadvantaged clients .”
Chrysalis Recycling represents a unique opportunity for businesses to reduce waste-disposal costs and help the environment while simultaneously taking an active role in innovative, creat iv e solutions to helping economically disadvantaged and homeless individuals become self-sufficient through transitional jobs .
Premier clients using Chrysalis Recycling include the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, Hamilton High School, the Palisades Post, and Pacific Electric Lofts in downtown . The program recycles CRV beverage containers, glass, plastic and aluminum bottles, newspaper, office paper and cardboard. In addition, Chrysalis Recycling provides easy-to-use collection receptacles , schedules regular pick-up s and distributes promotional materials to help businesses launch their own successful recycling program — all for a cost-effective fee .
