Chrysalis is dedicated to helping folks find and retain employment, especially those who have experienced homelessness, been justice system-involved, and have been disconnected from or are navigating barriers to the workplace. As the world continues to respond and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, Chrysalis is asking business owners to partner with us to find their next great employee – and we are asking everyone to help spread the word about fair chance hiring.
Since March 2020, California has lost more than 2.7 million jobs (non-farm) according to California’s Economic Development Department data. Jobs that Chrysalis clients have often been employed in, including service as well as the hospitality and leisure industries, have been particularly hard hit and are also slower to return. As a community, we must be prepared to support those who were vulnerable pre-pandemic and continue to struggle. Jobs among our low-income populations are not rebounding as fast as others, and the longer the impact of the COVID-economy persists, the more likely an increase in homelessness or other adverse consequences will be seen.
Let’s support our neighbors searching for employment! And let’s support our businesses, both those that were able to stay open throughout the last year and those we hope to welcome back!
