1,000 more safe storage units are open to the community

Through partnerships with the City of Los Angeles and LAHSA, Chrysalis manages several safe storage programs throughout Downtown Los Angeles. The Bin is a place where individuals may access free, secure, personal storage. The announcement made on today by City of Los Angeles officials marked the opening of a new, additional safe storage location – The Bin @ San Pedro. Renovating and creating this space was one of several projects put forth in a motion submitted to city council in 2019 for the allocation of Homeless Emergency Aid Program funds.

Between this new location on San Pedro Street and the original location on Towne Avenue, there are now 2,550 units of safe storage accessible in the Skid Row neighborhood. Chrysalis manages both of these sites, along with 82 safe storage units available as a part of the A Bridge Home project, El Puente located near La Placita.

Hours of operation for The Bin @ San Pedro & The Bin @ Towne

  • Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

At The Bin, we pride ourselves on providing great customer service and meeting the storage needs of our community members. We strive to meet our patrons where they are and respect that everyone has a unique story. Managing these safe storage spaces also allows Chrysalis to create 25 transitional job positions for our clients. The individuals working these jobs are transitional employees, who are seeking to grow their resumes and customer service experience by participating in Chrysalis’ job-readiness programming.
